MISSION
Polaris Collective LBG is dedicated to creating a world where women and girls have equal access to education, menstrual health resources, and economic opportunities, free from the constraints of poverty, inequality, and social injustice
Our Story
The Polaris Collective LBG was founded in 2018 by two poets, A’bena and Enam, who shared a passion for feminism and social justice. Growing up in Ghana, they witnessed firsthand the systemic inequalities and injustices faced by women and girls.
They saw how patriarchal norms, poverty, and lack of access to education and healthcare perpetuated cycles of oppression. As poets, they used their words to speak truth to power, amplify the voices of marginalized women, and challenge the status quo. However, they soon realized that poetry alone was not enough to create lasting change—they needed to take action.
Thus, the Polaris Collective LBG was born. The organization's name, Polaris, represents the guiding star that navigates and directs, symbolizing the founders' commitment to guiding and supporting women and girls in Ghana to reach their full potential.
Since its inception, the Polaris Collective LBG has worked tirelessly to promote gender equality, challenge harmful social norms, and provide support to marginalized women and girls. Through their projects, including the Happy Monthlies Project and the Book Nest Project, they have made a tangible impact on the lives of countless individuals.
Today, the Polaris Collective LBG remains committed to its founding principles of feminism, social justice, and collective action. As they continue to grow and evolve, they remain steadfast in their dedication to creating a more just and equitable society for all.
